This week, we had a lab to practice hemiplegia. Hemiplegia is paralysis of one side of the body typically after a stroke. You can recover from this; recovering usually occurs between as early as a week and as late as seven weeks, In this lab, my left arm and both my legs were paralyzed. With my luck, I chose my left arm not to work because I am right-handed. We had to put a sock on both feet with that one hand. Next, we had to put on a T-shirt. Lastly, we had to put on a white button-up. This included buttoning it up and undoing it afterward, still, with one hand. There is a tool that can help one do this, but we have not used it.
This week we have been preparing our mentor interview and researching a field of our choice. We turned in our research onto five notecards, which will be fed into a tool that will outline our paper due later. Our next big project, after this, was to identify our mentor and prepare for the interview before extending the formal invitation to mentor us over the course of the year.
