This week, on the 22nd, our class took a trip to South Alabama. Instead of a regular school tour, we visited each medical department and participated in an activity/lab. This started with radiology and took us through OT, the Simulation Lab, Speech and Audiology, BMD, EMS, PT, PA, and finished with heading to the Biomedical Library. My favorite part of this day was visiting the Simulation Lab. There, we got to deliver a baby and then also resuscitate a cardiac arrest patient. With this, EMS also gave us several thrilling labs and also gave us the chance to pick our favorite and spend our time perfecting that skill.
I think the biomedical library will be very beneficial. So far I have already found so many sources that have accelerated my knowledge to help me continue my 10 pages that are due next week. Staying on top of writing this paper is not as hard as I thought it would be. Some topics are insanely easy to talk about and continue for pages and pages, while others can barely give me a page. This week in class, we played Balderdash. We had words like lachrymation and dysmetropsia. The former is a medical term for crying, while the latter is more commonly known as Wonderland Disease. Most of our time in class was filled with continuing our research on our capstone project topic, the South Alabama biomedical library.
