For my outreach presentation, I presented to Mr.Box’s 5th block AP Government class. I talked about healthcare law and what you should know. For one, I started with what HIPAA. Many people know of it, but seniors in high school don't typically know what it stands for or how it even applies to them. Along with that, I told him what the many different violations were and even ones that may shock you. I also made sure to include a couple of real-life cases of famous people to grab their attention and some practice cases for them to guess before we started the game.

I enjoyed my outreach so much! Everyone seemed to listen and take in the information. There were 18 kids in my class, so we divided into four teams. There were two teams of girls and two teams of boys. For my game, after a fake scenario is read, the first to buzz in will answer if it is a HIPAA Violation or Not. After one person in the team goes, they will rotate to the back of their team's line and each person will take a turn. We will go through 10 scenarios, and whichever team has the most points in the end wins. The winners for my game were Bryce, Jameson, Ethan, and Abe. Whether they won fair and square is debatable. I’m glad I did a competitive game because I know how my grade is, and I knew this was one way to get them involved and wanting to learn.
