Dental Hygiene (3/23)

with Randi Stout

Ms. Stout has been in dentistry since 2004, but started at wanting to be an ER nurse... once she realized her hatred for broken bones... she chose the "easier option" and went through Alabama Dental Hygiene program.

- a years worth of classes

- a required of 150 mouths scaled

She got to work at UAB clinical rotation on the floor with oral surgery. She is a level 2 provider so she can practice under her own licenses but in the same building as a dentists.

- can numb her own patients

  • Early career (southern area): $25-$30 an hour and or 5% commission as well

She went into dentistry when the job basically landed in her lap and now loves it and is content with her work with the minimum risks and the high pay.

Ms.Stout favors replacing teeth as one of her favorite things but she prefers the mindset of keep her patients coming, not touching their teeth, and just talking to them about their issues rather than forcing them into a cleaning so she can get paid more.
