Forensics Day 5 (3/31/23)

Court Day in the auditorium !!

 


Today was court day. We stayed in the auditorium from around 8:30am to ..... . We were halved in the auditorium; prosecutors behind the right table and the defendants on the left.


OUR COURTROOM:

Judge: Brandy Hambright

Judicial Assistant: Zack Johnson

Court Reporter: Jerri Garside

Defense Attorney: Steve Fox

Prosecuting Attorney: Lewis Walker


As we began, Mr.Nease walked in with an orange suit with chains on his wrist and feet. He was then taken back out to change into civilian clothing.


Our opening statement (by Joslyn Upshaw): On March 29, 2023, Paul Nease claimed his wife committed suicide. When offers entered the house, he fled the scene with a bloody rag, bloody hands, and bloody fingerprints on the gun. The other side, by Lexi Garside, is trying to say that Paul Nease never fled questioning but only left a sad scene.


Then, Bailey Cumpton was called as the first witness. He described the scene to Taylor Jackson. Caleb G then questioned him trying to lead it towards suicide. Next came Doctor Glen Garside. The cause of death was a single gunshot wound. The manner of death was named as undetermined. The time of death was from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.


From the toxicology report, only antidepressants were found (but at a therapeutic level).


Throughout the court, many people were called up to the stand. When the coming to the final conclusion, they jury ruled that Paul Nease was not guilty.
