With Kaleb Garb and his intervention presentation
Stop the Bleed is a grassroots national awareness campaign and call to action. stop the bleed encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.
Wear Gloves:
You should always protect yourself from blood-borne infections. The majority of the time you don't have gloves so you should wash your hands after.
Look for life-threatening bleeding:
Find the source of the bleeding. Open or remove clothing, to check for injury that may be hidden. Look around your environment, what's around cloth t-shirts, clothes, first aid, or a belt.
After his presentation, we watched Kaleb's hands-on example. We practiced stuffing gawes into the open wound, applying pressure, then securing the belt around the surrounding area in order to keep it from bleeding out.
