On November 17th, we got to experience being patients in the practice drill for the EMS students at South Alabama College.
Our senior biomedical program class acted as victims in a bus crash leading to severe injuries. We prepared them for their roles by applying moulage, makeup, to make their said injuries appear real.
After the incident, they were then placed into categories depending on the severity of their injuries; green, yellow, and red. This helped them decide and prioritize the victims by who needed to be escorted to the ER first.
Once accessing them and temporarily treating them, they are then transferred to the ER. Most of them are then taken to get x-rays while the EMS people discuss the issues with the nurses.
